Howdy from Duhkville:News, folks, we got a little News!!!

April 3, 2011

Howdy Folks from Duhkland,

Well it’s been an interesting year for the world, and the same is true for us Duhks.

Trying to navigate this tumultuous business of life and music never fails to keep some kind of surprise around corners you thought you’d never turn.

Well, here’s the skinny. In the last year we played about seven or eight gigs. Although it was nowhere near the schedule we have all been used to, it provided us all with the opportunity to wade in other waters, and every time we did do a show together it was really, really fun. It was great to take it back to the reason we started the band in the first place.

2010 has been an amazing year for all of us;

Jordan has made huge headway with his Luthier business, McConnell Guitars (www.mcconnellguitars.com). A guitar he built was recently played by Seth Avett of The Avett Brothers alongside Bob Dylan on the Grammys and he has a waiting list that includes some really great guitar players. Watch his U.S. dealer at Dreamguitars.com for available guitars and check out his facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/pages/McConnell-Guitars/101410669937031 for stuff he’s currently working on.

Leonard has started a new band, with fellow Winnipeg musicians Nathan Rogers, and JD Edwards called DRY BONES, which you will all be hearing about in short order. He has also been working on special collaborative projects, with Folk Festivals on both sides of the Atlantic, and will be seen this spring and summer in many different configurations, stay tuned…

Sarah and Christian started their own duo project in the Spring of 2010. Since then they have played on Zac Brown's Cruise "Sailing the Southern Seas" as well as the renowned folk and roots cruise "Cayamo". They released an EP titled "Another Day" in February of 2011. For more information visit their website at www.sarahandchristiandugas.com. And from there, be sure to connect to their facebook page and hear the title track!

With all of this excitement in the wind, the Duhks have taken flight in some new and interesting ways. While we don’t even know where these breezes will take us, we are really excited to announce a limited run of shows with some of the original Duhks! That’s right! Leonard and Jordan will be teaming up with Jessee Havey and Scott 'Senor’ Senior to entertain the masses in Colorado in April, and British Columbia in July.

April 21, The Salida Café, in Salida, CO,
April 22 at The Gunnison Arts Center, Gunnison, CO,
April 23, in Denver at Quixote’s True Blue,
July 14-16 The Vancouver Folk Music Festival
More Shows TBA

Now, don’t panic! Christian and Sarah are still members of The Duhks, but we hope this will be the first in a fun series of shows that over the next year or so that will bring new and interesting scenarios to Duhks fans while still allowing us as individuals to pursue other musical interests.

The Duhks with Sarah and Christian will play:
April 27- May 1, Festival International De Louisiane, Lafayette, LA
May 5th, The Prairie Scene festival in Ottawa, ON
More Shows TBA

We will be sure to be very clear about which line-up of the band is playing when, and we know we can all agree that life is to short to ignore our dreams so let’s have some fun!

Keep checking our Facebook, Myspace, and www.duhks.com for tour dates and other important information.

We’ll see y’all down the road.
